What is Vortex Shift?
Vortex Shift is a fast, free arcade roguelite that runs in your browser. Your ship keeps circling a neon core on one of several orbit rings, and you jump between the rings to collect gems, fill each level's quota and dodge four kinds of mines. After every level you pick one of three upgrades and a new orbit is added. Every few levels a boss shows up and bends the rules until you take it down. You get one ship and one life, unless you earn a second chance.
Runs are short and intense, but your progress stays with you. Upgrade gems buy new ships and permanent upgrades, cosmetic gems buy colors and trails in the hangar, and every score you set goes on the daily, weekly and all-time global leaderboards.

How to play
- Press PLAY NOW and the game opens straight away in a new tab.
- Switch rings with ↑ / ↓, or click outside or inside your orbit. On touch screens there are arrow buttons.
- Collect gold gems to fill the level quota, and chain them quickly to climb the combo ranks from E to SSS+.
- Stay away from the red spiky mines. The symbol in the middle tells you what each one does.
- Grab the glowing bubbles: they are power-ups and always safe to take.
- Fill the quota, pick an upgrade and move up. Bosses stand in your way, and a final one waits at the end.

- Yes. The layout adapts to phone screens, and switching rings only takes a tap.
- How long is a run?
- A typical run lasts a few minutes, and a really good one can go on much longer. It's great for a quick break, and a bit dangerous if you have a free evening.
